EXPUNGE / SEAL YOUR CRIMINAL RECORD?

CAN I EXPUNGE MY OHIO CRIMINAL CHARGE?

Who Qualifies for Record Sealing in Ohio?

Can I expunge my Ohio Criminal Charge?

Ohio law generally does not use traditional "expungement" but instead allows record sealing, which achieves a similar result. Once sealed, your criminal record cannot be accessed expect by law enforcement or government agencies without a court order—effectively erasing your conviction from public view.

Am I eligible to seal my record?

You may be eligible if you meet these requirements:

  • Eligible offense: Non-violent, non-sex offense      misdemeanor or 3rd, 4th, or 5th-degree felony
  • No pending charges: Not currently involved in any      criminal matter
  • No mandatory prison term: Your conviction did not require      mandatory incarceration
  • Fewer than six felonies: No more than five prior felony      convictions
  • Case fully discharged: All sentences, probation, and      restitution completed
  • Waiting period satisfied: Required time has passed since      discharge

Why should I hire an attorney to do this?

An experienced Ohio record sealing attorney ensures your Application is filed correctly and maximizes your chances of approval. Our firm handles:

  • Eligibility evaluation for misdemeanors and felonies
  • Application preparation and filing with the court and application to the State Attorney General
  • Court representation and advocacy
  • Full legal guidance through the sealing process and advice regarding federal weapons disability and restoration of rights.

Benefits of Record Sealing

Sealing your record opens doors to:

  • Better employment opportunities
  • Housing approval
  • Educational advancement
  • Restoration of gun rights  (separate process)
  • Relief from criminal record stigma
